Campus Storage in Fischer Hall and Smith/Traber Hall (both Freshman dorms) will be available between 10:00am and 2:00pm at check in. Any student driving or flying in for Passage will have access to these storage spaces. These are the only times that campus storage will be open.
If you are a transfer student who will not be living in Fischer or Smith/Traber, you can still store your things in either storage location during the course.
Yes! There is an Introductory Meeting for each track at 3 pm on each arrival day. At this meeting you will be welcomed to Wheaton by faculty and staff, learn a bit about Wheaton College's vision for spiritual formation and gain perspective on the transition you are entering into. The meeting is in Barrows Auditorium for Wilderness, Northwoods and Equestrian Tracks. Urban Track will meet in the Meyer Science Center.
After the meeting, students will say their final goodbyes and begin their Passage experience!
We do not provide lunch on Arrival Day. If you're not familiar with the Wheaton area, we can suggest a few nearby places to pick up a bite to eat when you arrive.
Communication and Technology
HoneyRock as "A Place Apart"
HoneyRock is a place apart. We invite students, faculty, staff and guests to use their time at HoneyRock to step away from the busyness of the media saturated world and be renewed, restored, and refreshed through experiences with God and others in creation. We are not against technology but we believe it is important to develop rhythms of rest and reflection in order to maintain a balanced life. In an effort to help facilitate encounters with God that bring restoration and deepen connections with God and others, all of our programs are technology free.
A Place Apart for Passage
Wilderness: phones and electronics will be collected during the packing process and will be driven to HoneyRock where they will be stored until the final day of Passage.
Urban: Urban student phones and electronics will be collected upon arrival at Woodlawn. They are stored there and subsequently transported to HoneyRock, where they are stored until the final day of Passage.
Northwoods and Equestrian: Northwoods and Equestrian Student phones are collected after arriving at HoneyRock and before settling in for the night. They are stored at HoneyRock until the final day of Passage.
This Means:
- Students will not have access to cell phones, laptops, tablets, MP3 or CD players, radios, etc... for the duration of their Passage experience.
- Students must have hard copies of both the Wheaton Passage Workbook and Embracing the Love of God.
Please rest assured knowing you will be contacted in the event of an emergency and will be able to communicate with your student.
If there is a family emergency at home while your student is at Passage, please email passage@wheaton.edu.
We ask that you join us in providing your students with an opportunity to step away from technology, develop deep relationships with peers, and encounter God through community and creation before beginning their time at Wheaton.
