Deferment will not be granted to allow a student to enroll in another college, although approved deferred students may take one college course per semester during the deferral period for a maximum of 8 semester hours. Please contact our office for more information.

If I transfer to Wheaton, how do I know what courses will be accepted for credit?

Most credits earned at another accredited college will transfer to Wheaton if the courses are applicable to a liberal arts program. There are restrictions on certain courses taken in an online format. Incoming freshman can transfer as many as 40 credits taken prior to high school graduation, including credit from any national exams such as AP. Courses of a vocational or technical nature or courses in which a D grade was earned are not transferable (C- for Writing courses). Courses taken at an unaccredited college may receive some credit with the approval of the Registrar. The College reserves the right to decide the acceptability and applicability of degrees and credits earned at other institutions. Your admissions counselor is happy to speak with you about the types of courses that are generally accepted for credit at Wheaton College.
