
Students majoring in physics are strongly encouraged to pursue research experiences as a part of their education. The department provides both internal opportunities in research and encouragement and advisement for external opportunities. The paper entitled Electron Capture Supernovae from Close Binary Systems was published in the Astrophysical Journal in December, '17.
The published study, including a summary of results of David's honor thesis research, describes simulations of velocity and magnetic field fluctuations in plasma and was done in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Elizabeth presented a poster describing Intrinsic Flow Behavior During Improved Confinement in MST Reversed-field Pinch.
