Phase 2: Apply to IDS.
The IDS program accepts online applications each quad. (Find information about program eligibility and the application cycle here.) Below are the instructions for the online application process.
1. Draft your short answer responses.
Provide specific, substantive answers, using up to three grammatically correct sentences for each of the 8 short answer questions. You will copy and paste these into the online application form. Find the list of short answer questions here.
2. Prepare your application attachments.
These materials will help you identify your intended program of study, refine your purpose, and establish your eligibility for the program.

- Find a fillable version of the IDS Proposed Program of Study Form here.
- Build your program of study by consulting the course catalog and meeting with the faculty liaison in each of your selected academic disciplines for counsel and approval.
- After meeting with the relevant faculty liaisons, ask them to email their approval of your course selections to IDS@wheaton.edu.
- Before uploading your Proposed Program of Study form, save it as a Word or PDF document and title it in this format: “First Last - Proposed Program of Study - MM.DD.YY.”
- Three Reflective Essays

- To support the revision process, you are required to schedule a Writing Center consultation to help you revise your reflective essays. When you schedule the appointment, list Dr. Jeffry Davis as your instructor; he will receive a confirmation email after your appointment.
- Before you upload your reflective essays to the application, save all three reflective essays in one document as a PDF file and title it with this format: “First Last - Reflective Essays - MM.DD.YY.”
- Academic Transcript
- Download your current transcript from Banner web.
- Before you upload your transcript to the online application form, save it as a PDF and title it with this format: “First Last - Transcript - MM.DD.YY.”
3. Complete and submit the online application.
Contact the IDS program coordinator, Marie Friesema, via email to request the link to the Online IDS Application. Fill in your basic information, complete the self-assessment, paste in your short answer responses, and upload your finalized application attachments. 4. Submit the Information Release Form to the Registrar's office.
Find the IDS Information Release Form here. Submit it to the Registrar's office by scanning and emailing a copy to registrar@wheaton.edu.
5. Interview with the IDS director.
After you've submitted the Information Release Form to the Registrar's office, schedule an interview with the IDS director by emailing the IDS program coordinator at IDS@wheaton.edu.
