Physics Faculty Research
Faculty from the Wheaton College Physics and Engineering Department are engaged in a variety of exciting research projects.

Plasma Physics
Dr. Darren Craig investigates the physical processes underlying plasma relaxation in a large, hot, toroidally confined plasma; the so-called the Madison Symmetric Torus. Learn more >

Medical Physics
Dr. Heather Whitney conducts research in quantitative analysis of medical images. She collaborates with researchers at the University of Chicago to investigate the radiomics of breast cancer imaging. Learn More >

Computational Astrophysics
uses large computer simulations to study the progenitors of Electron Capture Supernovae in both single and binary stars.

Observational Astronomy
searches the sky with the 24-inch Planewave telescope in the Observatory to study variable stars and exoplanets.

Medical Physics (NMR)
researches nuclear magnetic resonance measurements (NMR) such as magnetization transfer of water protons in the presence of macromolecules to improve quantitative imaging in the medical field.
