2019 Fahs Symposium Lecture - Dr. Kersten Priest
Monday, March 25th 2019 - 7:00pm, Meyer Science Center, Room 145
Dr. Kersten Priest, Associate Professor of Sociology from Indiana Wesleyan University will present the Annual Ivan Fahs Lecture, titled: "Respect the Dirt: Black Abolitionists & the Free Black Settlement of Weaver, Indiana." This presentation will be on the history and modern effects of Weaver, the prominent black settlement in 19th century, pre-Civil War Grant County, IN.

Can an Anthropologist Be a Theologian?

Dr. Todd Whitmore, Catholic theologian, development worker, anthropologist, and medical practitioner, spoke on his work connecting theology and anthropology. He drew on decades of fieldwork from South Sudan/Northern Uganda and Northern Indiana, where he is currently working with those experiencing opioid addiction.
The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America

Richard Rothstein's recent book The Color of Law, was a 2017 finalist for the National Book Award for non-fiction. He gave a hopeful yet sobering lecture on how our government created and perpetuated residential segregation.
