Betsy Leong is thrilled to be back at Wheaton after graduating as an undergraduate back in 2007. She is passionate about secondary education and mentoring all students through the transition from student to teacher, rooting their identity in Christ as they move into their own classrooms. She believes teaching is the absolute best profession and works to equip students with a variety of pedagogy, classroom management and curriculum writing tools and strategies to use with their students.
Joining the faculty in 2013, Betsy comes to Wheaton after six years as a high school Biology and Physical Science teacher in southern Wisconsin. While teaching, Betsy also served as a classroom management coach and speaker, focusing on school-wide implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention strategies (PBIS) for high school students. Betsy continues her love of science by also serving as Wheaton's STEM Outreach and Science Education Coordinator, where she partners with local high schools to come to the Meyer Center Science Center for hands-on lab fieldtrips. She also leads the Natural Science Division's annual STEM day for prospective students every Fall.
Betsy and her husband live in Oak Park where they enjoy all that the city of Chicago has to offer while raising their two hilariously fun boys and beloved corgi dog. You'll often find her in the outdoor raised gardens near the Meyer Science Center or getting coffee or ice cream with students around campus.
