Owen Barfield is an author and philosopher, and one of the seven authors of the Wade Center. In this first interview with Barfield, Lyle Dorsett begins the conversation discussing Barfield’s relationship with C.S. Lewis. The discourse recounts Barfield’s unease with Lewis’s apologetic work and “evangelism” during World War II. Joy Davidman, Charles Williams, and Dorothy L. Owen Barfield attended Highgate School from 1906 to 1917, ages 8-18. This interview discusses his time there, as well as the history of the school with reminiscences between Barfield and the interviewers while walking the grounds. The recording was provided by Highgate School and permission was granted for the Wade Center to add it to its collections.
